Tyre Label Regulation
A new European Union labelling scheme which came into force on 1st May 2021 gives customers buying tyres – including tyres on new vehicles – information to help them make more informed tyre choices.
All tyres purchased are delivered with tyre label. The new labels offer three main pieces of information about the tyre, which are the result of standardised tests:ENERGY EFFICIENCY (RR), WET WEATHER BRAKING PERFORMANCE (WB) and EXTERNAL ROLLING NOISE (Noise). Each of these scores are given as a rating, where A is the highest score.
WHAT DOES THE TYRE LABEL TELL ME?
- The new label lists the tyre manufacturer and model name.
- There are two scales on the label: energy efficiency (multicoloured) and wet weather braking performance (blue). Both scales are rated from A to E, where A is the highest rating. The letter to the right of each scale shows the tyre’s rating.
- Below these two scales there is an external rolling noise rating with a decibel score and a rating from A to C (where A is the highest rating).
- Tyres designed for icy/snowy conditions will also carry a mountain icon with a snowflake.
QR CODE
The new tyre label includes a QR code linked to the EU EPREL database of all registered tyre models, allowing you to verify the information given. You do not need a special app to read the label; the QR code can be read by any smartphone camera or suitable reader.
FUEL EFFICIENCY
More energy efficient tyres use less fuel or battery power per km driven, helping cut energy costs and reduce emissions.
EXTERNAL ROLLING NOISE
Tyres which create less noise through contact with the road help reduce traffic-related noise pollution.
WET BRAKING PERFORMANCE
Tyres which help a vehicle come to rest in a shorter distance on wet road surfaces increase safety and reduce the risk of collisions.
SNOW GRIP
Increased grip in snow or ice reduces the risk of losing control in wintry conditions. Please note winter/snow tyres are not suitable for warmer weather driving conditions.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MITSUBISHI CARS?
Mitsubishi is committed to safer, more efficient and more economical driving, including selecting high-quality tyres and manufacturers for all our new vehicles. Below is a list of all the tyre models currently fitted to new Mitsubishi cars. Please note we cannot guarantee which tyres will be fitted to a specific vehicle before delivery.
